About me.

The story behind JE-Design: how a school subject grew into a company that builds websites and apps.

JE-Design grew out of a few things I picked up and went through along the way. This is how it came about.

  1. High school, years 4/5

    Informatics and the first website

In high school I picked Informatics. That is where I learned to build websites, still very simple back then: just HTML and CSS, so the site itself and its styling. I picked up a few other things too. I enjoyed it so much that it shaped what I studied next.

  2. ICT & Business

A study that did not quite fit

So I went on to study ICT, specialising in ICT & Business. I found it interesting: I built websites again and learned about data, databases and much more. But I felt it was not the right fit. The business side appealed to me far more.

  3. Entrepreneurship & Retail Management

    Choosing to be an entrepreneur

So I switched to my current programme, Entrepreneurship and Retail Management.

  4. Between year 1 and 2

    The first real, live website

I started helping a good friend with his site. His web shop was already fairly far along, and I got it fully running on WordPress. That was my first real experience with a live website: real visitors, real orders and real consequences when something breaks.

  5. Year 2

    A company of my own

In the second year of my programme I started a company with two fellow students. There too, I was responsible for the website.

  6. Now

    Building apps

Recently I also got into developing apps. It started when I saw an app that was not well built and asked for money right away to unlock something. I thought: I can do this better. That is how PayShift came about, now available on the App Store.

And now: JE-Design. That combination is what makes JE-Design: technical enough to build it myself, with an entrepreneur's eye for what your business actually needs. Personal, fast and affordable.

My strength. I enjoy figuring things out, finding out how they work, and simply trying them. That is why no request is too crazy for me: I keep looking until I find a solution that works.
